Summer Vacay: Back From The Beach!

We are back from a week at the beach -- Folly Beach, which I personally think is the coolest beach on the East Coast!

Not only is it filled with great local restaurants and bars, but it's a quick 25-ish minute drive to downtown Charleston, South Carolina, which is one of my very favorite cities in the world.

My family rented a really cute beach house, and we also shared time with our friends who have a family home in Folly.

Getting ready to leave town -- last minute Home Depot stop for bungee cords for our cruisers

A few gardenias in a car can make it smell heavenly -- a long car-trip trick from my Mom

First order of business ... dog walk on the beach!

First evening out

Friends and most of my famiy at Folly Beach Brewing Co.

Monday's fantastic lunch in Charleston at Closed For Business

A mid-afternoon refreshment at Pearlz

Oyster shooters with pepper-flavored vodka and cocktail sauce

Before dinner at Husk

Guys on the family's beach house front porch

The beach house colors ... I fell in love

Dinner the following evening started with a delicious crab dip

Cold boiled fresh shrimp

Finished (finally!) the third Hunger Games book, Catching Fire

Sisters

Pre-dinner drinks at the Cocktail Club in Charleston -- me and Mom

Married To A Mixologist was my drink of choice

Best way to end the day before dinner

Margaritas galore

All in all, we had a great time, and it was really nice to unplug.  Minus the occasional email check or Instagram stalking venture, I was able to bury my nose in my Kindle and spend time with loved ones.

But it's great to be BACK!  :)

  10. Missed you! But clearly YOU had way more fun. I love Folly but we have a house on Kiawah so that is where I have spent more of my time. So glad you finally went to Husk as it is sooooo delicious. I love going there on a week night when things are less crazy-busy. Those oysters looked good, and with the pepper vodka... maybe even more so. :)
